Angels Among Us

Believe me when I say angels are always with us; it’s like each of us has a guardian angel by our side. Let me share how my family and I have seen guardian angels. You may remember how Holy Mary saved me in a motorcycle accident (Unexpected Care of Mother Mary) or (Holy Mary’s Miracle (Republish) — here are more stories about angels. My father told me about two or three times he was saved by his guardian angel; these happened before I was born, so I can’t prove those stories. But there is one I am sure about:

On D-Day (June 6, 1944), Le Régiment de la Chaudière landed on Juno Beach. Their significant attack on Carpiquet, however, took place almost a month later on July 4, 1944, as part of Operation Windsor.

The Carpiquet airfield was an original D-Day objective for the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. Due to fierce resistance from the 12th SS-Panzer Division, it could not be taken in early June. As part of the 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, the regiment led the charge during the July assault.

Key Dates for Le Régiment de la Chaudière at Carpiquet
June 6, 1944 (D-Day): The regiment landed at Bernières-sur-Mer in the second wave.
June 7, 1944: Elements of the 9th Canadian Brigade reached within sight of the airfield but were ambushed and pushed back; a static front formed for the remainder of June.
July 4, 1944 (Operation Windsor): The regiment attacked the village of Carpiquet at 5:00 AM. Under a heavy creeping barrage, they successfully captured the village by mid-afternoon.
July 5, 1944: The regiment held its positions against multiple German counterattacks.
July 9, 1944 (Operation Charnwood): The airfield was finally fully liberated, with the Chaudières capturing the last southern hangars.

Following the gruelling battle for Carpiquet and before the attack of Caen, Le Régiment de la Chaudière was ordered to withdraw to a “rest area” or safe ground on July 11, 1944.

They received reinforcements to replace the heavy losses from Carpiquet.
They took time to clean their equipment and bathe.
Their vehicles underwent maintenance.
Receive “LOB” (Left Out of Battle) personnel back into the ranks.

I estimated that (police talk) on the July 11 or around this date, my father Maurice was hit by one of the 12th SS-Panzer Division, a projectile of 88mm, every body said the my father was death and to live him their, but a guardian angel (my father one) tell a guy with a Brent carrier, small vehicule on tracks, to go pick up my father and bring him to the Hospital Tent. Later, that man received a projectile right in the middle of his forehead and died. Couldn’t thank him

A long, long time after my brother Pierre was protected by his guardian angel, when natural gas was installed in the city of Hull and, at the same time, big concrete cylinders were being inserted under the street. Pierre got into one of them, which started rolling down the street. The angel managed to stop the cylinder. Another time, he was playing in a mountain of beach sand, which would be used to fill up the railroad that they removed to make a bicycle path, when my brother suddenly drowned in one of the mountains of sand. Pierre’s guardian angel told another kid (who was our neighbour) to get help asap! The kid went to our place to get his father, who yielded to my father, and they dug and pulled Pierre out of the sand, who was over his head.

Well, now, I am tempted to say ‘stupid’ and ‘imbecile,’ but I will use the term ‘innocent,’ yes, innocent at 7 or 8 years old. In the 50s, an 8-year-old child was like a 4-year-old of today.

Under the furnace pipe, which goes into the chimney, the oil reservoir

In those days, we didn’t have a central heating system; we had a big oil furnace in the basement, it was a coal furnace that was converted to oil and a small oil furnace in the kitchen, a Coleman, exactly the same as the one used in the barracks of the TV Show Hogan’s Heroes. To feed this Colman, my father had two drums that he hid in the back shed, which was attached to our house and had a door that went from the house to the shed without going outside. It also had a huge sliding door to the backyard

As an innocent kid in the 1950s, when smoking was legal everywhere, my father—a smoker—left his cigarettes and a book of matches on the living room coffee table. One day, I picked up the matches and went to hide in the shed by the oil drums. My goal was to light a match and drop it in a can that my father attached to the drum tap to catch any oil drips, so none would be lost.

A standard barrel of oil contains 42 U.S. gallons (roughly 159 litres or 35 imperial gallons, there is a significant difference between a barrel of oil, which is a unit of measurement equal to 42 US gallons (used for industry metrics), while a drum is a physical container, typically made of steel, which holds 55 US gallons or 45.7971 imperial gallons. So, in our shed, we had 2 drums, totalling 91.5942 Imperial gallons.

Can you imagine the BOOM that it can do? Ask a firefighter

Guardian angels are spiritual beings believed to watch over and guide individuals throughout their lives. Many cultures and religions, including Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, have stories and teachings about these benevolent protectors. Guardian angels are thought to offer comfort during difficult times, provide subtle guidance, and sometimes intervene to prevent harm.

The concept of guardian angels brings reassurance and hope to many people. Stories of miraculous escapes or unexplained assistance are often attributed to the intervention of these unseen helpers. While the existence of guardian angels cannot be scientifically proven, the belief in their presence inspires faith, courage, and a sense of companionship during life’s challenges.

Whether seen as metaphors for inner wisdom or as actual supernatural beings, guardian angels occupy a special place in the hearts and minds of those who believe in them. Their presence serves as a reminder that no one is ever truly alone, and that help may come from unexpected sources.

I invite anyone who has a witnessing story about a guardian angel to share it with us in the comments
