Our Lady of Guadalupe, “a living testimony to the power of God,” says Bishop Gallagher
In his homily for the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico on July 27, Bishop Gallagher, Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, returned to the heart of the Virgin’s message to the Indian Juan Diego. Her message, he said, “is not a memory,” but rather a “mission” that calls the Church “not only to defend the faith, but also to live it prophetically.”
